Your guide to what’s open Australia Day

It’s that time of year again – Australia’s bank holiday, Thursday 26th January.

You could be spending the day barbecuing with friends, soaking up the sun at the beach, or maybe not observing the day at all. But if you need to hit the shops in your spare time, we’ve got you covered.

Here are the Australia Day trading hours for many major retailers across the country.

Woolworth



Woolworths shoppers in all states will be in luck on Australia Day, but there will be individual store closures.

All stores will be open queenland and Tasmania.

Woolworths stores will be open everywhere New South Wales and the LAW — except North Sydney and Eastlakes Metro.

Stores will open in Victoria except Bourke Street and Collins Square.



In Western Australia, all stores will be open except Esperance. WA shoppers should note that most stores will be operating during public holiday trading hours, not their regular hours.

All regional stores (except Millicent) and Rundle Mall are open in southern australia. SA Metropolitan stores are closed.

In the North territoryall stores are open from 8am to 8pm, except Gove (9am to 5pm).

Coles

There will be no changes to Coles store trading on January 26 at New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, Western Australia, North territory or LAW.

In southern australiaonly the following stores will be open: Victor Harbour, Mount Gambier, Whyalla, Murray Bridge Green, Rundle Place, Mount Barker, Port Augusta, Berri, Port Lincoln and Port Pirie.

Store opening hours may differ slightly from store to store, customers are advised to check with their local store or the Coles website to avoid disappointment.

Aldi

There will be no changes to the normal hours of sale at Aldi stores in New South Wales, LAW and Victoria January 26.

queensland stores will have reduced opening hours, opening from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Opening hours vary from store to store southern australia and Western Australiacustomers are therefore advised to visit the Aldi store locator to check if their local store will be open on public holidays.

Kmart

Kmart stores will open nationwide on Australia Day – with a few exceptions – so you still have the flexibility to spend the holiday shopping at your leisure.

Many open or close later than usual, so it’s best to check your local store’s opening hours before heading there.

There are a few Kmart stores that not open in Western Australia and southern australia January 26. Stores closed are Esperance in WA; and Firle, Tea Tree, Munno Para, Ingle Farm, Kurralta Park, West Lakes, Port Noarlunga, Marion and Churchill in South Africa.

Bunnings

Good news for Bunnings lovers – all stores will be open on January 26.

However, store opening hours vary from country to country, so Bunnings advises everyone to hop on the website to check trading hours at their local store.

Australia Post

Australian post offices are generally closed on national holidays, including Australia Day, so you will need to plan your visit accordingly.

Westfield

Westfield Shopping Centers will be open nationwide on Australia Day, with the exception of southern australiawhere all centers will be closed.

In states where Westfield is open, hours of operation may change due to holidays.

In New South Wales, Westfield Sydney will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Bondi Junction, Burwood, Chatswood, Hurstville, Miranda and Parramatta from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Eastgardens, Hornsby, Liverpool, Mt Druitt, Penrith, Tuggerah and Warringah Mall 10am-5pm; and Westfield Kotara from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In LAWWestfield Belconnen and Woden will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In queenslandWestfield Carindale, Chermside, Mt Gravatt and North Lakes will open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Coomera and Helensvale will open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

All Victorait is The Westfield centers – meaning Airport West, Doncaster, Fountain Gate, Geelong, Knox, Plenty Valley and Southland – will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In Western AustraliaWestfield Carousel is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Booragoon is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Innaloo and Whitford City will both be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Although centers may be open, individual retailers may choose to close during the day or operate different trading hours.
