‘Wicked’ scenes spark brutal halftime search as Raider Danny Levi breaks his jaw
Raiders hooker Danny Levi played just two minutes after clearing a tackle early in his side’s clash with the Sharks.
The Raiders led 12-10 at the break, but it was the first scenes that saw Levi bleeding profusely from his mount after his team’s first defensive set.

Levi was left in backplay with his mouth open
“He’s got a real problem here, Levi,” Warren Smith said in a Fox League commentary.
Cooper Cronk added: “He looked down the sideline straight away as he came out of the contest. He looks into all kinds of Danny Levi trouble.
Coaches had to hold his mouth as he walked off the pitch and fears were confirmed almost immediately that it was a broken jaw.
The injury appears to have occurred when Levi grabbed the shoulder of Sharks second rower Teig Wilton, and Fox sideline reporter Matt Russell said he thought he could be broken at two places.
Greg Alexander said it was “pretty nasty” and Fox Sports showed a vision of officials fumbling on the turf.
“He just fell into the tackle and a bit of footwork from Teig Wilton and the shoulder looks like he got Levi back on the jaw,” said Fox League’s Greg Alexander.
“He didn’t look good coming off the floor, definitely not good.”
Smith said officials would be back in the field full-time if the search was unsuccessful.
“We had NRL officials at the break looking for at least one dent on the turf at GIO Stadium,” Smith said.
“They could be there full time again if they didn’t locate it, it looked like they were empty.”
But apart from the sickening injury, the Raiders were on fire as the team seeks its first win of the season.
Leading 12-10 at halftime, the Raiders made it 24-10 in the 53rd minute after forward Corey Horsburgh scored a rare brace.
