Multiple Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles was spotted out and about in the NFL last season, attending Green Bay Packers games to support her husband, safety Jonathan Owens. But we may not see as much of her this year despite her husband’s trade to the Chicago Bears.
In a video posted to TikTok showing her preparing for the recent preseason game between the Bears and Bengals, Biles explained why she’ll have a hard time attending games in the coming months.
“I don’t know how many games I’ll be able to do because in a couple of weeks we’re going on tour,” Biles said. “If you don’t know, I’m hosting the Gold Over America tour, and I think right now we’re doing 32 stops.”
The Gold Over America tour features Biles and a host of other gymnasts, including her team all-around gold medal teammates Jade Carey and Jordan Chiles, as well as Team USA bronze medalists Frederick Richardson, Paul Judah and Brody Malone. Katelyn Ohashi, the former UCLA gymnast who has gone viral multiple times with her joyful and technically perfect routines, is also part of the team.
The tour is set to feature 32 shows in 30 cities across the United States, beginning in September and ending in early November. Biles and Owens’ schedules will only overlap once during the six-week tour. They’ll both be in Chicago on September 29, where she’ll perform at the United Center and he’ll face the Los Angeles Rams at Soldier Field.
Such is the life of two married professional athletes. Owens was able to escape training camp for a few days to watch Biles win multiple gold medals at the recent Paris Olympics, but that’s all the team allowed.
It’s unclear what Biles has in store once the tour ends Nov. 3, but the Bears will still have nine regular-season games left. That gives her plenty of opportunities to support her husband, just as he supported her over the summer.
