It looks like wedding bells could be in pop star Usher’s future.
The singer and his longtime girlfriend, Jennifer Goicoechea, obtained a marriage license in Las Vegas last week, according to Clark County court documents obtained by The Hollywood Reporter.
The big news for the couple came Sunday as Super Bowl LVIII began at Allegiant Stadium in Vegas, where Usher was in the final hours before performing during the halftime show. There, he was joined on stage by special guests including Alicia Keys, H.E.R., will.i.am, Jermaine Dupri, Ludacris and Lil Jon.
Nevada court records show that on Thursday the couple received a marriage certificate, but have not yet filed a marriage license. So, even though the first step of their nuptials has been completed, the couple is not yet married.
Beyond this major step in his personal life, it was a busy week for the singer, songwriter and dancer. In addition to putting on his much-loved halftime show, Usher released his ninth studio album, Go home, Friday and announced he was extending his Past Present Future tour. His My Way Las Vegas residency ended in December after 100 performances.
Usher and Goicoechea are the parents of a daughter, Sovereign Bo, aged 3, and a son, Sir Castrello, aged 2. They have been together since 2018.
This would mark Usher’s second marriage, as he was previously married to fashion designer Tameka Foster, with whom he shares sons Usher “Cinco” Raymond V, 16, and Navid Ely, 15.
On Sunday, the defending Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, defeated the San Francisco 49ers in the big game.
