Tottenham nanager Antonio Conte set to take a break from football after surgery
The Italian manager will undergo gallbladder removal surgery on Wednesday and the club have released a statement that Conte will take some time to recover. The Italian underwent tests which diagnosed cholecystitis, after suffering from “severe abdominal pain”.
“Antonio Conte recently fell ill with severe abdominal pain. Following a diagnosis of cholecystitis, he will undergo surgery to remove his gallbladder today (Wednesday) and will return after a recovery period. wish good luck.”

Cholecystitis is an inflammation of the gallbladder and after surgery it can take up to eight weeks for a person to recover and resume normal activities. Cristian Stellini, the assistant manager, who attended media functions during Spurs’ FA Cup game against Preston, is expected to take charge over the coming months.

The North London club will be without their Italian gaffer until at least the end of February, which can also extend until mid-March. They signed Pedro Porro from Sporting Lisbon on deadline day and will be aiming to resurrect their season after some stuttering performances.
They are 3 points behind the top four, while Arsenal are 14 points behind the league leaders, with a few games more than their north London rivals. They ended their two-game Premier League losing streak with a win over Fulham and then backed that up with their FA Cup win over Preston.
Spurs are currently 5th in the Premier League table and host Manchester City next Sunday (5 February).
