Tottenham: Antonio Conte attacks his players, Levy and questions the club culture of Spurs in an incredible rant
And after their lackluster performance, manager Antonio Conte dismantled the players, the owners and the club as a whole in a stunning rant. Conte said his players were “selfish” and questioned the club’s vision while digging into the current owners.
Conte has been at odds with the club and is set to leave the North London side at the end of his current contract which expires at the end of the season. But he could no longer hide his frustration after a series of disappointing performances from his players.
Selfish gamers
“The problem is that for another time we have shown that we are not a team, we are 11 players who go on the pitch. I see selfish players, I see players who do not want to s ‘help and don’t put their hearts,’
Conte said after the game.
Owners lack a winning mentality
The manager then interviewed the owners and he feels the lack of ambition to win root trophies from the top brass and this has spurred the whole institution to settle down with moderate ambitions.
“Because they’re used to it here, they’re used to it. They don’t play for anything big. They don’t want to play under pressure, they don’t want to play under pressure. It’s easy that way. The story of Tottenham is this: 20 years that the owner has been there, and they have never won anything but why?asked Conte.
Disappointing club culture
Tottenham have just won a Carabao Cup in the entire 21st century. And Conte believes the culture at the club has led to their downfall as players are never blamed for the lack of results. He also questioned their recruitment strategy and lamented journalists for providing players with unfair wiggle room.
“The club has the responsibility for the transfer market, every manager who stayed here has the responsibility,” he said. “And the players? The players? Where are the players? In my experience, if you want to be competitive, if you want to fight, you have to improve that aspect,”
he added.

Does Conte’s contract situation play a role in the team’s performance? Conte was quick to dismiss this, telling reporters,
“You find an alibi, another alibi. You try to find an excuse for the players.”
We Backed Down: Tale
The former Chelsea boss was brought to Tottenham for an instant result, and he did it last season when Spurs went on to finish in the top four and qualify for the Champions League. But this season has been a disaster and Conte believes they have taken a step back in direction.
“If I have to compare last season and this season, we have to improve, but now we are worse in this aspect. When you are not a team, anything can happen, at any time. Today is the last condition”,
he said.
“Remember that in the FA Cup we lost to Sheffield United, who were playing with young players. Being a team is the most important thing. Understanding that we are playing for the badge. We have to play to make our fans proud of us. We have to pay to show desire.”

Change of manager is not the solution
Tottenham’s deep problem is multi-directional and Conte believes it is everyone’s responsibility to change the situation and dynamics at the club. He said only a change of management will not bring them results as players, owners and the club itself need to step up.
“Not just the club, the manager and the staff. The players have to be involved in this situation because it’s time to change this situation if Tottenham want to change. If they want to continue in this way, they can change managers, a lot of managers, but the situation cannot change. Believe me, “
Conte concluded.
