The ruling party’s attempt to surround Somaiya failed, the court’s decision came as a blow

Information The efforts of the ruling party to target former BJP MP Kirit Somaiya by making evidence in possession of information received from The Mumbai High Court has in a way stopped this effort of the ruling party by granting bail to Somaiya. Two months ago, Shiv Sena leader and MP Sanjay Raut had announced to put three BJP leaders behind bars in Mumbai.

Raut had then announced that Kirit Somaiya and his son Neel Somaiya would be sent to jail soon. Even after two months, questions were being raised on Raut for not sending anyone to jail. Anyhow, Raut, intent on sending Somaiya to jail, one day showed the paper of information received from the Raj Bhavan in the Right to Information.

Ten years ago to save the warship INS Vikrant, Kirit Somaiya and Neel Somaiya and other activists collected donations by standing in the chaupal. That donation did not reach Raj Bhavan, Raj Bhavan has said in the Right to Information. It means this money has been stolen. Raut alleges that this money was around Rs 58 crore. Based on this, a case was registered at Trombay police station. Chaudhary, an ex-serviceman, complained and a case was registered. In the complaint, Baban Bhosle has said to give two thousand rupees in this relief fund and not to get its receipt. The sessions court had refused bail to Somaiya.

Somaiya had gone to the High Court for bail. The High Court, after hearing the arguments of both the sides, said that the FIR filed in this regard is vague and based on information in the media. The court granted relief to Somaiya from arrest till the completion of the trial. If there is an arrest, orders were also given to release him on a surety of fifty thousand. The court directed Somaiya to cooperate with the police in the investigation. Somaiya’s lawyer had said that the allegations were baseless and politically motivated.

Kirit Somaiya has exposed the scams of many ministers of Mahavikas Aghadi, due to which he is on the target of the ruling party. This attempt to corner Somaiya and the Bharatiya Janata Party on his pretext has proved fruitless. The observation of the Court while delivering the judgment is to nullify the gravity of the allegation and the FIR. Significantly, after the decision of the High Court, Sanjay Raut has accused the court of being one-sided. Raut asked why only the people of one party get relief from the court.
