Sharks enforcer Royce Hunt received his marching orders for an alleged punch that “barely repositioned that red goatee” from Raiders forward Corey Horsburgh.
With 30 minutes left in the clash, Horsburgh held off his opponent’s accessory after a scrum, fending off Hunt who landed on his back.

Horsburgh had harassed Hunt for the majority of the game and the Sharks prop lost his temper, hitting the Raiders enforcer in backplay.
“He held me then pushed me, he held me in the scrum literally the whole time,” Hunt told referee Ashley Klein.
“I understand that okay, we missed that element, but you went and hit it,” Klein said.
“You took everything from us so you’re going to go to the trash to strike”.
The Raiders were able to orchestrate a try after Hunt fended off Horsburgh in backplay.
Center Matt Timoko charged through the gaping hole left by Hunt, bringing his side within 10 yards before Horsburgh crashed past the posts.
“Big Red” gave Hunt a bite to eat while celebrating his second four-pointer and Fox League’s Cooper Cronk explained the scuffle led to the crucial try.
“It’s here in the back game, Corey Horsburgh pushed it and Royce Hunt came over and said ‘let’s dance’ and Royce Hunt had to throw a punch – is that it?” Cronk said.
“Essentially it made the break … and Corey Horsburgh gets one back on the Sharks’ first rower because he let him know by scoring that try.
“In the end it cost Royce Hunt 10 in the bin and the Sharks are under pressure again.”
Fox League reporter Matt Russell added: “It wasn’t much of a punch, barely repositioned that red Goatee of Corey Horsburgh as Hunt went after it, but I guess technically it was a punch.”
Speaking on Matty Johns’ post-match show, Horsburgh said the brawl was “a lot of fun”.
“Just a few good jokes, he slapped me so I pushed him, then he gave me one, then I called him a few mean words, good fun, I love it,” said Horsburgh.
Meanwhile, Sharks coach Craig Fitzgibbon was clearly angry at his prop for hitting back and said he “got it wrong”.
However, Fitzgibbon was shocked the Raiders weren’t punished for Horsburgh’s tactics as well.
“You can’t just hold someone at the back of a scrum, push them…but you can’t do what Royce did, so he should have been picked up by someone before Royce did. retaliate,” Fitzgibbon said post-match. press conference.
“Royce shouldn’t have hit back like that, especially not while we were defending our goal line.
“So Royce will have a lesson in that, but you can’t hold somebody out of a scrum, push them and then get away with it clean while we lose Royce for 10 minutes.”
