The Independent Italian Label Behind Nicholas Galitzine and More Red Carpet Looks

“When I design, it’s my personal vision,” explains Gerardo Cavaliere, co-founder of Giuliva’s legacyabout its unique aesthetic that has become one of the hottest menswear brands for top actors of the moment.

“She’s the muse,” says the stylist. Warren Alfie Baker, who regularly performs the vibe of Cavaliere — think Italian neorealism hunk meets Dimes Square charm — for his star-studded roster. For the premiere of gunIn April, client Andrew Scott looked playful and mischievous in an acid green shawl-lapel suit and scoop-neck tank, while in the same month, Diego Boneta smoldered in an ultra-wide peak-lapel Giuliva Heritage suit and a silky shirt with buttons undone.

Giuliva Heritage “feels like vintage, but it really created a story for the modern man,” Baker says. “It’s much cooler when the designer is so involved and has a passion for their own brand. It makes it even more appealing.”

Recently, Jeremy Allen White, Nicholas Galitzine, Jonathan Bailey and External bankDrew Starkey has also turned up the heat in Giuliva Heritage’s cheeky looks. The brand’s celebrity moment came at the 2022 Venice Film Festival, when Chris Pine stepped off a vaporetto in a relaxed ivory shirt, red pleated trousers and a dandy navy double-breasted blazer.

“The outfits are basically what Gerardo is in real life,” confirms Giuliva’s co-founder Margherita Cardelli, a luxury consultant who married Cavaliere, a lawyer turned tailor, in 2017. The same year they founded the brand. The label, designed in a Roman atelier and handcrafted in Naples, began with womenswear (seen on Meghan Markle, Sandra Oh and Rachel McAdams), followed by menswear. “Seeing how the designers and then the talent embody [Gerardo’s] “The vision is just incredible,” Cardelli says.

Giuliva Heritage’s connection to Hollywood grew organically, with stylists discovering the brand on Instagram. Cardelli points out that authentic relationships, coupled with distinctive style, helped Giuliva Heritage break through on the heavily sponsored, corporate-dominated red carpet. “We don’t have the capacity of big luxury brands to pay people, or to have millions of options” to consider, Cardelli says, adding, “We ask talent to be dressed in a complete look, and 99 percent of the time, we achieve that.”
