Supergirl Movie Casts Milly Alcock .

Warner Bros.’ Supergirl: the woman of tomorrow takes off with Dragon House star Milly Alcock, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed. She will play the role of Kara Zor-El, Superman’s cousin, in the feature film.

Alcock tested for DC Studios bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran last week, alongside Meg Donnelly, who was also in the running for the role. The character is expected to appear in a DC Studios project (or two) before his solo adventure, but it’s unclear if that project will be Gunn’s. Superman: Legacywhich begins filming this spring, or another DC movie or show. Supergirl moves like a high-speed locomotive and it’s possible the feature film will be shot in the fall, if Warners finds a director soon. Ana Nogueira writes the screenplay.

Alcock became the younger version of Rhaenyra Targaryen in HBO’s first season. Dragon Housea spin-off of Game Of Thrones. She is now entering the field of comics, with the new feature film partially inspired by the Tom King and Bilquis Evely mini-series of the same name.

“Milly is an incredibly talented young actress, and I’m incredibly excited for her to be a part of the DCU,” Gunn wrote on social media Monday. “Yes, I first became aware of her in House of the Dragon, but I was blown away by her varied auditions and screen tests for #Supergirl,” adding that she played the character as as imagined by comic book writer King, comic book artist Evely and screenwriter Nogueira.
