The father of the deceased Karanveer, Satnam Singh Sahota is a resident of Basian village in district Ludhiana. The Sahota family had settled in Canada 18 years ago. After getting the information of this incident in Bassian, the whole village has drowned in mourning. Now Karanvir’s grandfather Bhag Singh and grandmother Jaswinder Kaur live in Basian village.
Bhag Singh and Jaswinder Kaur told that their grandson Karanvir was attacked with sharp weapons by a group of students in the school itself last week. This attack was done due to lack of identity. In fact, the attackers had come to kill another student whose appearance was similar to that of his grandson, Karanvir. The attackers were also 7 students of Indian origin, who have been arrested by the Canadian police but their identities have not been revealed.
The accused students have admitted in their statement to the police that they had no quarrel with Karanveer. Due to lack of identification, Karanveer became a target while they had come to kill another student. Grandfather Bhag Singh and grandmother Jaswinder Kaur told that their grandson Karanvir was born in Canada itself. Karanvir was very much ahead in the field of education and sports. Karanvir, the only child of his parents, was of a very calm nature. There is also a lot of anger in the Punjabi brotherhood of Canada regarding this incident.
