Shubman Gill slams first ODI Double Century: Full list of records broken by Indian fly-half
Several big records were broken by the opener who started the innings with captain Rohit Sharma and broke the double century in the 49th of the game by hitting three straight sixes from Lockie Ferguson to reach the milestone.
Youngest hitter to slam ODI Double Century
The talented right-handed striker, who opened the innings, achieved the feat in the first ODI against New Zealand at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Gill – at 23 years and 132 days – overtook Indian teammate Ishan Kishan to become the youngest player to score a double cent in the 50 plus format.
Kishan created the record last month in the third and final game between Bangladesh and India in the Bangladesh tour.

Fifth Indian to slam 200 in ODI
Gill also became the fifth Indian striker to slam a double century in the ODIs after Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan.
Tendulkar – who scored an unbeaten 200* against South Africa in 2010 in Gwalior – Ishan Kishan, however, continues to be the quickest to smack a double ton in the ODIs. The left-handed hitter caught just 126 balls against Bangladesh at Chattogram to hit the 200-point mark.
West Indies legendary hitter Chris Gayle is second on the list when he scored a double ton on 138 balls in 2014 against Zimbabwe.
Virender Sehwag is the second fastest India to slam a double century in the 50-over format when the explosive right-handed fly-half hit his first ODI double ton on 140 balls at Indore in 2011.
Fastest at 1000 ODI executions
The right-handed hitter, who made his ODI debut in January 2019, reached the milestone in 19 innings, passing Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan. He also became the second fastest at 1000 runs in terms of heats alongside Pakistan’s Imam Ul Haq. Fakhar Zaman had reached 1000 points in 18 innings. Gill’s Indian teammates Kohli and Dhawan, whom he replaced on the team, had completed 1,000 runs in 24 innings.
Six maximums in 11 balls
Gills broke 6 sixes in the next 11 balls of the game. Gill hit 169 of 137 balls and hit 6,0,6,0,1,6,6,6,1,1,6.
First batter to slam 200 with three consecutive sixes
Shubman Gill also became the first player in the game’s history to slam a double century with three consecutive maximums.
