Romulus: First reactions to the preview

The highly anticipated Fede Álvarez Alien: Romulus was finally revealed to the public on Monday evening after the film’s world premiere at 20th Century Studios in Los Angeles, and the first reactions are already surfacing on social media.

The eighth installment in the long-running series Stranger The franchise takes place between the events of Ridley Scott’s 1979 film Stranger and James Cameron’s 1986 sequel Aliens. Romulus The film follows young colonists who discover an abandoned space station and encounter the horror of the alien creature that is the undisputed star of the franchise. The film stars Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced and Spike Fearn.

The film is produced by Scott, Michael Pruss and Walter Hill.

Romulus was originally scheduled to air on Hulu in the style of Dan Trachtenberg’s critically acclaimed film Predator prequel, Prey (2022), but the studio wisely opted for a theatrical release from the start of principal photography. “Right when we started shooting, the studio was like, ‘Fuck, we’re going to go to the movies with this,’” Álvarez said. Romulus is released in theaters on August 16.
