The Flower Moon Killers And The Irishman Cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto will be honored with the Distinguished Filmmaker Award at the 26th annual Emerging Cinematographer Awards (ECA), the International Cinematographers Guild (ICG) announced Wednesday.
Cinematographer Mr. David Mullen will also receive the ASC Mentor Award.
Prieto was nominated for four Oscars for his work on The Flower Moon Killers, The Irishman, Silence And The Secret of Brokeback Mountain. His other credits include Barbie, The Wolf of Wall Street, Argo And 8 milesHe was also nominated for a 2024 MTV Video Music Award for his work on Taylor Swift’s “Fortnight” music video. His next project, his feature film directorial debut, is an adaptation of Juan Rulfo’s novel Pedro Paramo.
Mullen has received two American Cinematographers (ASC) Awards and three Emmy Awards for The Marvelous Mrs. Maiselas well as two nominations at the IFP Independent Spirit Awards for Twin Falls, Idaho And People of the North. His other credits include Jennifer’s body, The Good Wife And Westworld.
“The filmmakers receiving Special Awards at this year’s ECAs represent the pinnacle of filmmaking excellence, and we are thrilled to celebrate them,” said Steven Poster, ECA President, ASC. “We are thrilled to be at an event that highlights both the work of our emerging filmmakers and the career achievements of our Special Award recipients.”
The winners will be honored at an awards ceremony and luncheon on Aug. 27. Prieto will receive his award at the ECA presentation on Sept. 29, while Mullen will receive his award during the luncheon.
