As the debate erupted on social media, it was eventually pointed out that the outrage was actually the “epitome of white feminism”, with people pointing out that the response to Margot’s non-nomination this year overshadowed the success women who were… including his co-star America Ferrera.
And while the conversation had finally died down in recent days, actor Robert Downey Jr. just reignited it — and people aren’t impressed with what he had to say.
Robert said: “Margot Robbie doesn’t get enough credit, in my opinion. America has this incredible speech, and the way she puts it, I look at it and I’m like, “Wow, that was a really difficult speech.” It’s like a one-act play. The whole film depends on it.
“But it’s the cuts to Robbie listening so actively that I realize Greta is really onto something here,” he added.
Reacting to Robert’s comments on a Reddit forum, one person wrote: “’America Ferrera was great but…’ is also very crude wording. Most of the articles I read about her nomination were just a way of talking about Margot’s snub to the point where her quotes were more about that than her actual nomination.
