Retail theft suspects wheel carts of Spam, other grocery items before Roseville pursuit

Roseville police officers arrested a suspect Thursday accused of stealing more than two shopping carts filled with Spam and other food items from a grocery store, police said.

Officers were called to the 9000 block of Woodcreek Boulevard for a report of a theft. Two suspects are accused of stealing enough Spam, coffee, Dove soap bars and alcohol that filled several carts, according to photos provided by police.

A pursuit began after officers located the suspect’s vehicle. The case ended in a residential neighborhood when the suspects abandoned the car and began fleeing on foot, police said.

Officers arrested the driver but were unable to locate the passenger, police said. It is unclear whether the passenger was arrested. Lt. Chris Ciampa, a spokesman for the Roseville Police Department, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

More than $9,000 in stolen items were recovered by officers, police said in an online post.
