Lottery prices have increased after no tickets matched all six numbers in Friday and Saturday night’s draws. The Mega Millions jackpot increased to $1.1 billion and the Powerball jackpot to $800 million; the prices were $977 million and $750 million respectively Wednesday evening.

The next Powerball drawing will take place on Monday – and if there is a winner, it will be sixththe biggest prize in gaming history, according to the company. The last Powerball jackpot was won on January 1 for $842.4 million thanks to a ticket in Michigan. Since then, there have been 35 consecutive draws without a jackpot winner.

The record Powerball jackpot stands at $2.04 billion, a prize won by a ticket in California in 2022.

The Mega Millions numbers will be drawn again Monday evening, and it will be fifththe biggest prize in the history of the game. Two tickets purchased in California shared the last Mega Millions prize on December 8. It is the only lottery game to reach the $1 billion zone six times, according to a press release. So far, five jackpots over $1 billion have been awarded: in South Carolina in 2018, Michigan in 2021, Illinois in 2022, and Maine and Florida in 2023.

The record Mega Millions jackpot was $1.602 billion, won in Florida last year.

A single jackpot winner can choose to be paid as a lump sum or as an annuity for the entire amount, with annual payments over 30 years. The lump sum payout is estimated at $384.8 million for Powerball and $525.8 million for Mega Millions, both before taxes.

The odds of winning the jackpot are approximately 1 in 292.2 million for Powerball and 1 in 302.6 million for Mega Millions.
