Police are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred Saturday evening on a major highway in Massachusetts.
Massachusetts State Police troopers responded to southbound I-95 in Foxboro for a reported shooting shortly after 10 p.m., state police said.
A preliminary investigation suggests two vehicles were traveling south when shots were fired, state police said.
One of the vehicles then stopped, where police found the driver with a gunshot wound. He was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to Massachusetts State Police.
Both right lanes of I-95 were closed around mile marker 15.6 in Foxboro, near Mechanic Street, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation announced on social media around 10:35 p.m.

Several tow trucks and police cars were on scene around 11 p.m. as traffic filtered into the far right lane.
Troopers from the Norfolk County State Police Detective Unit and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section are investigating the shooting.
