Officer shoots suspect accused of pointing gun at Fulton County bar patrons, staff and police say

A man is in critical condition after authorities say a police officer shot him at a north Fulton County bar.

Roswell Police said shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday that Roswell E-911 operators began receiving several calls from staff and customers at Mazzy’s Sports Bar and Grill on Alpharetta Hwy. Callers told dispatchers there was a customer with a handgun and he was pointing it at other people.

When officers arrived, they located a 34-year-old man holding a handgun near the front door of the bar.

Authorities said when officers ordered the suspect to drop the gun, he continued to point it at them.

After the suspect refused to drop the gun, authorities said a police officer shot him.

Officers quickly began providing medical treatment to the suspect who was then transported to hospital in critical condition.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called in to investigate the shooting.
