On January 29, DC Studios director and co-CEO James Gunn confirmed on Instagram that Milly Alcock had been cast as Supergirl in his revamp of the DC franchise.
“That’s right,” James wrote in an Instagram post featuring a screenshot of The Deadline article on the casting of Milly. “Milly is an incredibly talented young actress, and I’m incredibly excited for her to be a part of the DCU. Yes, I first learned about her in House of the Dragon, but I was blown away by her varied auditions and screen tests for #Supergirl She plays Kara as envisioned by @tomking_tk, @bilquis and Ana Nogueira.
He then shared her post on his Instagram Story, where he wrote: “Welcome to the DCU, Milly Alcock!”
Milly is best known for her role as young Rhaenyra Targaryen in Dragon House.
She will star in the film Supergirl: the woman of tomorrow. In November, James announced in a Instagram post that Ana Nogueira wrote the screenplay. “We are excited to move forward with this unique version of Supergirl in this beautiful story through the stars,” James wrote in part.
Deadline reports that it is not confirmed whether Milly will appear as the character in the upcoming Superman: Legacy film with David Corenswet in the role of Clark Kent.
Sasha Calle recently played the superhero in last year’s film The flash.
