Man charged with selling stolen devices

January 31—HANOVER TWP. — Appliances and a television stolen during a burglary at a Dallas Township residence were recovered from a Hanover Township storage unit where they were being sold.

Jerome James Sharr, 33, of Blackman Street, posted a stove for sale on Facebook Marketplace and was contacted by the Dallas Township homeowner’s daughter who reported her home was ransacked on Jan. 29, according to court records .

When the daughter went to a storage unit on Sans Souci Parkway to inspect the appliance, she discovered that the serial number on the stove matched one stolen from her mother’s home in Dallas Township, according to court records.

Dallas Township police arrived at the storage unit and found additional appliances and a television reported stolen in the home.

Sharr was arrested by Hanover Township police on a single count of receiving stolen property. He was arraigned by Hanover Township District Judge Kyle Halesey and jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Center for lack of $75,000 bail.

A stove is listed for sale among other items by Sharr on Facebook Marketplace.

According to the criminal complaint:

A woman reported her home on Glendalough Road was broken into and a refrigerator, stove, microwave, television and table were stolen. She provided police with photos, receipts including the model and serial numbers of the stolen items.

The woman’s daughter discovered the stove for sale on Facebook Marketplace and arranged for an inspection of the appliance.

When she arrived at the Hanover Township storage unit, the daughter learned the stove matched the serial number along with other items stolen from her mother’s home.

The household appliances and television were taken to the police department of the municipality of Hannover.
