The Asian Powerlifting Championship was organized by the World Powerlifting Federation in Kyrgyzstan. In which two players of Ludhiana, Krishna and Prabh Singh have won gold medals while participating in powerlifting competition, while winning gold medals in singles competition have brought laurels to the city. 37-year-old Krishna has won the gold medal by lifting a total of 725 kg while participating in the 90 kg weight category. In which he did 295 kg squat, 190 kg bench press, 240 kg dead lift.

Apart from this, he won the gold medal by putting a bench of 195 kg in the single bench press competition. On the other hand, 22-year-old Prabh Singh has won the gold medal in the 83 kg weight category by lifting a total of 5 quintals. In which 2 quintal squats, 1.10 kg bench press, 1.90 kg bench press were installed. At the same time, lifting 1.90 kg in the single dead lift event, won the gold medal.

Have won 12 medals at the national level, out of which 8 gold medals

Krishna told that he has been doing powerlifting for 20 years and is also running his own gym. Taya ji’s son has also earned a lot of name in the said game. The game started after seeing him. Trained under coach Ramesh Kumar at Ramgarhian College, Phagwara and achieved success. Being from a poor family, the college coach and sports promoter supported him. He has so far won 12 medals in the Nationals. In which 8 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze medals are included. Apart from this, from 2008 to 2022, he was the champion in state events. He has also won the title of Strong Man of Punjab 3 times and Strong Man of India 3 times.

Powerlifting started last year only: Prabh Kumar told that he is doing diploma in agriculture in PAU and is taking training from coach Gurpreet Soni. Started powerlifting practice a year ago. Gold in powerlifting and bronze medal in deadlift in national competition held in Ludhiana recently, gold in powerlifting in national held in Gujarat three months ago, has won gold medal in national held in Delhi in January 2022. While the state competition was held in Ludhiana only last month, it has won 1 gold and 1 silver medal. Prabh told that father Sukhvir Singh is an electrician and mother Ranjit Kaur is a housewife.
