Kit Harington Gets Candid About Why He Pulled Out of Game of Thrones Spinoff

Game of Thrones Star Kit Harington has revealed why a spin-off series based on his character would no longer be on the cards.

It was first reported in 2022 that a series set around Jon Snow was in development at the American channel HBO, although The British star confirmed in April that these plans had been put on hold.

In a new interview with British GQKit was asked why the project was no longer moving forward, a topic he admitted he was reluctant to talk about.

“What I can tell you is that HBO came to me and said, ‘Would you consider doing this?’” he shared. “My first reaction was no. And then I thought there might be an interesting and important story about the soldier after the war. I felt like there might still be something to say and a story to tell in a fairly limited way.”

“We spent several years developing it. And nothing really excited us.”

He later said he eventually “backed off” out of concern that “if we push this further and continue to develop this project, we might end up with something that’s not good. And that’s the last thing we all want.”
