JSO announces arrest in connection with fatal September San Jose shooting

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office announced that an arrest has been made in connection with the shooting that occurred on Saturday, September 2, 2023 in the 6800 block of Old Kings Road South.

Upon arriving on scene, authorities found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite efforts by Jacksonville Fire and Rescue to transport the victim to a local hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.

Subsequent investigations by the JSO Homicide and Crime Scene Units led to the identification of a suspect.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Roberto Carlos Garcia Velez, 43, in connection with the shooting.

On Friday, February 2, 2024, SWAT personnel were able to locate Garcia Velez and arrest him. He faces charges including possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and murder in connection with the shooting death of the victim.
