It’s hard enough getting over the fact that he’s coming back for The Bridgerton Chronicle Season 4.
Not to mention we only have a few months to prepare ourselves to see him as Fiyero in the film adaptation of Wicked. He is everywhere.
And now Jonathan talks about how much time and effort he put into choosing the right penis for his Travel companions character, and it’s pretty silly.
On Thursday’s episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers, Jonathan revealed the process of selecting the prosthetic penis (repeat that five times fast) and what the costume department did with it on its last day of filming.
The three-time Emmy-nominated series Travel companions follows the volatile four-decade romance of Hawkins Fuller (Matt Bomer) and Tim Laughlin (Jonathan) through major world events like the lavender scare of the 1950s, the anti-Vietnam War protests of the 1960s and the AIDS crisis of the 1980s.
Tim has undergone many changes over the years, including his hair, moustache and glasses, but Jonathan reveals: “There is one thing that has remained the same throughout his life.”
Host Seth Meyers asked, “Were you involved in the decision-making?” referring to the prosthetic penis, and Jonathan responded, “Um, just a hand.”
Jonathan explained: “At the beginning, obviously, we wore a protective layer, obviously, to protect ourselves and so that it wouldn’t be embarrassing. But, given the nature of the show, we wanted to choose something that maybe reflected what’s really happening.”
Seth then revealed a censored photo blurred prosthetic penises from Jonathan’s time on set. “They all have their own different personalities,” he said. “When you approach a character, you think emotionally, you think cerebrally, and then you really have to make a big choice.”
Seth then asked, “Is that what you did? You did the big “What choice?” Jonathan quickly replied, “No, no, no! I think it’s fair, I believe in representation for all.”
As Seth tried to show another picture, Jonathan quickly covered it up. “No!” he shouted as he grabbed another picture. “Wait, wait, wait. I want to show you this one first.”
Jonathan first acknowledged the “lots of people who keep you going” in a production like makeup and costumes…
