Jesse Tyler Ferguson Explains the SAG Awards Modern Family Reunion

Last week, the 2024 SAG Awards brought together the cast of beloved TV shows and movies, including Modern Family, Breaking Bad And The devil wears Prada.

While the Modern family Missing from the reunion were the kids from the hit ABC sitcom, the gathering of adults included Ty Burrell, who had previously missed the reunited cast since the series ended.

Speaking on Friday Tonight ShowJesse Tyler Ferguson said he insisted Burrell show up after his absence at the last reunion sparked fans’ concerns that something had happened to the actor who played Phil Dunphy.

“When the SAG Awards happened, he was supposed to be doing something else,” Ferguson said. “I was like, ‘Ty! You can’t miss it anymore! People will really think you’re dead! It’s like, “We need to introduce you to show you that you’re not dead!” » So he succeeded.

Indeed, Burrell wasn’t the only one with other plans last Saturday, Ferguson recalled, revealing that several cast members had other things to do but canceled those plans for the SAG Awards appearance.

“Honestly, that night we were all busy,” Ferguson said. “Sofia [Vergara] I was supposed to do press, I was supposed to be here in New York, Julie [Bowen] I was filming a show, Ed [O’Neill] had a glass of wine to drink. And so we all canceled these very important things, and we found a way to get together because the last time we had a meeting, Ty Burrell couldn’t make it, so we posed with pictures of Ty …and then the Internet. I thought he was dead.
