Jenna Ortega reveals the name of the Denzel Washington film that inspired her to start her acting career.
The Emmy-nominated actress, who has gone on to star in hit projects including Shout franchise, You, Wednesday and the next one Beetlejuice Beetlejuice sequel, recently told Vanity Fair in a wide-ranging interview, it was in 2004 The man on fire it “changed the whole course of my life.”
“I’m very grateful to the six-year-old kid that I was who wanted to be president and an astronaut… because I realize now that I was always looking for a way out,” Ortega added.
The Tony Scott-directed thriller, starring Washington and Dakota Fanning, follows former CIA agent John Creasy who embarks on a revenge-driven rescue mission after 9-year-old Lupita Ramos, a girl he was hired as a bodyguard to protect, is kidnapped.
Ortega said Vanity Fair After seeing Fanning’s performance as a child, she knew immediately what career she wanted to pursue, and it was one that would lead her straight to Hollywood. And after her mother posted a video of her doing a dramatic monologue on Facebook, which a family friend forwarded to a casting director, she was eventually driven by her mother to Los Angeles for auditions.
However, it was only recently that Ortega began to accept that his life had changed forever and would likely continue to change.
“There’s so much pressure on this job that I do, it’s laughable, beautiful and awful at times,” she added.
