Indian men’s hockey team for the Commonwealth Games d
The team will be captained by Manpreet Singh, who led the Indian team to a historic bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo last year. Harmanpreet Singh, the highest scoring dragflick expert of FIH Hockey Pro League, has been made the vice-captain of the team.
In the last Commonwealth Games held in Gold Coast, the Indian team was in the fourth position. However, after an impressive performance in the FIH Pro League this year, the Indian team is poised for success in Birmingham. Speaking about team selection, head coach Graham Reid said, “We have gone to the Commonwealth Games with a tried and tested team. These players have the experience to play against top teams in high pressure games in the FIH Pro League. ”
“After a brief break, when we return home from the Netherlands, we will resume camp at Sai, Bengaluru where we will analyze our performance against Belgium and the Netherlands,” he said. While the FIH Pro League has many takeaways from this outing, there are certainly some areas we can improve on before the Commonwealth Games. ”
