Gina Gershon Thought She Broke Tom Cruise’s Nose in Cocktail Sex Scene

Gina Gershon reveals her first sex scene didn’t necessarily go as planned.

THE The borders The actress recently made a guest appearance on Watch what’s happening livewhere she shared that her “first love scene” was with Tom Cruise in 1988 Cocktailnoting that he was a true “gentleman.” However, she was mortified after she accidentally “kneeded him right in the nose” during filming.

“At one point he started hiding under the covers and I told him I was really ticklish,” Gershon told host Andy Cohen. “I said, ‘No, no, don’t ever do that.’ And in one take — I think he wanted a reaction — he grabbed my stomach and I kneed him right in the nose.”

She continued. “I was like, ‘Oh my God, I just broke Tom Cruise’s nose.’ He was like, ‘No, no, you told me.’ I was like, ‘I’m so sorry.’ He was like, ‘No, it was my fault.’ And he was so overprotective of me. He was great.”

Cocktaildirected by Roger Donaldson, follows Brian (Cruise), a business student and bartender from New York who takes a job at a bar in Jamaica and ends up falling in love with artist Jordan (Elisabeth Shue). Gershon plays Coral, a photographer who cheats on Brian with her business partner Doug (Bryan Brown), which explains why Brian initially decided to move to Jamaica.

Gershon also told Cohen that Cruise’s then-wife, Mimi Rogers – they were married from 1987 to 1990 – “was very present” on set throughout the filming of the romantic comedy-drama because they had “just gotten married.” Joe the Killer The actress noted that she and Cruise “kissed as much as possible” in the film.

She added: “Every scene we were like, ‘Should we kiss in this scene?’ ‘Oh yeah, I think we should kiss.’
