George Clooney is ‘a little irritated’ by Quentin Tarantino.
The veteran actor lashes out at the famed director’s apparent comments about his celebrity status.
In a new GQ cover interviewwith his next Wolves co-star Brad Pitt, the subject of Tarantino came up and Clooney said: “Quentin has been talking some crap about me recently, so I’m a little irritated with him. He did an interview where he named movie stars, and he talked about [Pitt] and someone else, and then this [interviewer] “What about George?” He says, “He’s not a movie star.” And then he literally says something like, “Name me one movie from the millennium.”
Clooney continued: “And I thought, ‘Since the millennium?“It’s kind of my whole fucking career.”
At this, Pitt laughed.
“So now I’m like, okay, man, fuck you. I don’t mind giving him shit. He gave me shit. But no, listen, we’re really lucky to have worked with these great directors. The director and the script are what keep you alive.”
Technically speaking, Clooney’s career dates back to the early 1980s. But it’s also true that he’s had considerable success since the turn of the century in films ranging from the 2000s to the 2010s. Pitt said Tarantino “was pretty good” as an actor in Duskto which Clooney retorted: “He was All right “There’s one scene I forgot. But he’s really good.” Pitt then added: “There’s one scene I forgot. But he’s really good.”
It was also not immediately clear which Tarantino interview Clooney was citing, although the director said makes headlines for previously calling Marvel actors “not real movie stars,” saying their comic book icons were the real stars of those films.
Speaking of which, Clooney also noted his 1997 film Batman and Robin didn’t work.
“When I had the opportunity to choose a film, I accepted everything that was offered to me,” he said. “Because I didn’t understand that I was going to be held responsible for the film. So I was offered Batman and Robin, I call my friends and I say, “I’m going to be Batman!” You don’t really think about it. And then after doing that for three movies, which didn’t really work, I thought, “Oh, I’m going to be held accountable. I have to go back to: a good script, a good director, if I’m allowed to choose. And that means you have to take money out of the problem. Because remember, when you’re first famous, when someone offers you a lot of money, you’re like, “Holy crap, I’ve never been offered that.” money before. I was never offered…
