Former shows The Morning Show and Gilded Age become new nominees

Many awards prognosticators expected the drama categories at this year’s Emmy Awards to feature an odd assortment of nominated titles. Think of it as a perfect storm of sorts: With the end of HBO’s TV series Succession (which won the top prize for three of its four seasons) and AMC Call Saul instead (which racked up an impressive 53 nominations in its six seasons without a single win) — plus the fact that last year’s strikes forced shows like those nominated in last year’s drama category The Last of Us, Strange things, The White Lotus And Yellow jackets to delay production — this year’s contenders for best drama series include only one previous nominee The Crownwho won the award in 2021.

The Morning ShowThe star-studded drama was one of the streamer’s early hits, premiering alongside Apple’s November 2019 launch, and many of those stars — including Jennifer Aniston, Steve Carell, Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass and Martin Short — were nominated for Emmy Awards for their performances in the first season in 2020 (Crudup won for best supporting actor)….
