Tom Tykwer’s return to the big screen is getting closer. After 7 years working in television, co-creating and co-directing, with Henk Handloegten and Achim von Borries, four seasons of an acclaimed period drama series Babylon Berlinthe German director of Lola Courses, International And Cloud Atlas will mark his return to cinema with the contemporary German-language drama The light (The light).

Al Deen plays Farrah, a mysterious Syrian woman who enters the lives of the Engels, a middle-class German family whose world is slowly falling apart. Nothing seems to hold the Engels together, but Farrah will put the family’s emotional world to an unexpected test.
Lars Eidinger, Nicolette Krebitz, Elke Biesendorfer, Julius Gause and Elyas Eldridge play the Engels.
Beta manages sales on The light for all territories except German-speaking Europe, France and North America and will begin pre-sales of the film at the European Film Market in Berlin later this month.
