Drew Barrymore Says She’s Practicing Physical Distancing

Well, there’s more to come! In an interview with Entertainment TonightDrew revealed that her show has been renewed for two more seasons and that she wants to continue experiencing that joy and hopefully “practicing physical distancing.”

“We probably wouldn’t get there,” Drew said of the show’s renewal. “I always think when good things happen, you have to talk about them. You know, it wasn’t just easy, it wasn’t given away. We’ve lived through a lot of years of uncertainty. That’s why it seems all the more delicious.”

If you recall, Drew launched her show in 2020, at the height of the pandemic, and since then, the show has gained a massive following for its authenticity and the way it connects with its guests. “When we launched the show in the middle of a pandemic, it was obviously not the right path to take and it was a huge risk,” she said. “And I think that led to uncertainty, but also possibility. If we hadn’t had that luck, that unorthodox timing, we wouldn’t be here today.”

THE Drew Barrymore To show It left space for celebrities to share personal stories or experiences that you wouldn’t always see on daytime TV, but Drew, while well-intentioned, took up some of the “physical” space.

Luckily, she plans to work on that for next season. “Well, you know. I’m going to try to practice physical distancing, which is not my strong point.”

“You know how hard the pandemic was for me? I was in a studio by myself, all by myself. I love being around people!” she said. “It’s not everyone’s favorite, but I feel sorry for those people.”

Besides learning to save a little space on the couch between herself and the guests, Drew’s mission for the next two seasons is to bring “joy, fun, warmth” and “news” to people.

“Since I did it AND “When I was a kid, I was convinced that people wanted a collective experience. They wanted a community. They wanted to watch something and experience something together,” Drew said. “We need that. We need that affirmation of life. We need to feel and believe in the good because it’s there, and I’m going to spend every day trying to find it.”
