DA investigates driver’s death when van crashes into Somerset house

A person was killed after crashing his pickup truck into a Massachusetts home early Sunday morning,

Somerset Police said they were called to the fatal traffic crash on South Street around 2:53 a.m. Sunday and found a gray Chevrolet Silverado had struck the southeast corner of a home.

The lone occupant of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Their names have not been released.

All residents of the home were evacuated and no other injuries were reported.

The Somerset building inspector attended the scene and determined the home was temporarily uninhabitable due to extensive structural damage caused by the accident, according to police.

National Grid and Liberty Utilities were also called to the scene to assist.

Police have not said what may have caused the driver to crash into the house.

The Bristol County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the crash.
