Court documents allege 18-year-old was driving 110 mph when he caused fatal crash in Renton

18-year-old man now officially charged four people killed in Renton crash on March 19.

The King County Prosecutor’s Office released documents Saturday detailing the charges against Chase Jones, detailing four counts of vehicular homicide, two counts of vehicular assault and one count reckless driving charges that have been filed.

“When you look at homicide cases, the most random types of homicides are vehicular homicides, not only in King County, but throughout the state of Washington,” said Casey McNerthney of the district attorney’s office of King County.

Jones is currently scheduled to be arraigned in early April.

The charges stem from a horrific accident at the intersection of 192nd Street South and 140th Avenue South near Renton on Tuesday, March 19, that claimed the lives of a woman and three children and seriously injured injured two children. Another adult in another vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The victims of the accident were Buster Brown, 12, Eloise Wilcoxson, 12, Matilda Wilcoxson, 13, and Andrea Hudson, 38.

“When people are accused of crimes like this, it is very important to bring them to court,” McNerthney added. “Reckless driving is one of the charges filed. And that’s an important question to bring before the court.

According to the King County Prosecutors’ Office, data from Jones’ 2015 Audi A4 indicates he was traveling 115 mph when he collided with the pickup truck.

Jones’ vehicle was purchased just one month before the collision.

According to the court document, it was the third vehicle he destroyed in a speeding accident in the past 11 months.

“That’s why in King County the prosecutor created a traffic crime unit last year, and that’s because of the increasing number of cases we’ve seen, but also the expertise from our office to try to handle these cases in the best possible way,” he said.

Jones is currently scheduled to be arraigned on these charges in early April.
