Cardi B has revealed she recently suffered a “freak accident” that left her briefly paralyzed and nearly cost her her pregnancy.
The singer hosted a Twitter Spaces on Thursday, during which she opened up about her experience being confined at home after an accident.
“I had a freak fucking accident. I don’t know how something… well, it wasn’t small, it hurt me.” she said without specifying what happened or what diagnosis he had made. “It doesn’t happen often, but it became something so serious that I was literally paralyzed.”
The “I Like It” singer announced she was pregnant in a carousel post to her Instagram last week. The news comes after she filed for divorce from Migos rapper Offset for the third time. On her Spaces Twitter account, Cardi explained that the freak accident “almost cost me the birth of my little one, but it didn’t.”
She went on to say that she felt great Wednesday after her hospital stay because she was “high as a kite” from the morphine doctors prescribed her. On Thursday, she woke up sober and in a lot of pain. She noted that if she still had pain after Spaces, she would go to the hospital and try to get more medication.
“I don’t care. I’m gonna exaggerate this shit to get more morphine. Morphine me. I don’t care,” Cardi said. “That’s why people are addicted to drugs because I’m not gonna lie to you, when these motherfuckers was pumping me up with morphine every four hours, I was waiting for my fix.”
The singer is expecting her third child with her soon-to-be ex-husband. The couple, who married in 2017, have a 6-year-old daughter named Kulture and a 2-year-old son named Wave.
In Cardi’s post announcing her pregnancy, she seemingly addressed the impending divorce, writing, “With every ending comes a new beginning! I am so grateful to have shared this season with you, you have brought me more love, more life and most importantly you have renewed my power!”
She continued, “You reminded me that I can have it all! You reminded me that I never have to choose between life, love, and my passion! I love you so much and I can’t wait for you to witness what you’ve helped me accomplish, what you’ve pushed me to do! It’s so much easier to face life’s twists and turns and challenges, but you and your brother and sister have shown me why it’s worth it to persevere!”
