Britney Spears recalls finding out about her niece Maddie’s near-fatal ATV accident

Britney Spears “lost her mind” when she thought her niece Maddie died in her near-fatal mountain biking accident in 2017.

After Jamie Lynn Spears’ then 8-year-old daughter was submerged in a pond for two minutes while strapped into the vehicle, Britney learned the news from her mother, Lynne Spears.

‘She said Jamie Lynn said something happened… SILENCE… SILENCE… SILENCE!!!’ the princess of pop, 40, wrote via Twitter on Thursday.

“She wouldn’t tell me,” the songwriter continued. “then she said it…she stopped breathing…we lost her!!!”

Britney assumed at the time that Maddie was dead and subsequently “started throwing things around”.

She recalled: “My mind was completely and absolutely gone…I lost my mind at that point.”

After the ‘Gimme More’ singer’s brother Bryan Spears told her to “control herself”, Britney “left there crying” until she found out minutes later that Maddie had “opened the eyes”. [and] could see.”



The Grammy winner noted, “Death is a mystery…We don’t understand it…My mind couldn’t process it.”

Every year since the scare, Jamie Lynn has honored Maddie’s miraculous recovery with a tribute on social media.

“I had nothing when I thought I lost my baby girl so my faith was literally all I had left,” the ‘Sweet Magnolias’ star said. told her Instagram followers in January.

“I thank God every day [sic] for the amazing healthcare professionals, all the prayer warriors, and the countless angels in heaven and on earth who made our miracle possible.

Maddie’s recovery gave Jamie “gratitude”.

When the actress released her memoir ‘Things I Should Have Said’ the same month, she described how Maddie looked “strangely blue” after being pulled from the pond and not responding to CPR.

The 14-year-old had her last rites read at the hospital, the “Zoey 101” alum recalled, noting that she was put into a medically induced coma to help her heal.

The traumatic event gave Jamie Lynn ‘gratitude’, she tell people in January.

“When the worst thing you can think of in your life happens to you, it makes you see everything else differently,” the former Nickelodeon star explained at the time.
