Authorities investigating overnight shooting in Brockton that killed 27-year-old man

Authorities in Brockton are investigating an overnight shooting that left a 27-year-old man dead.

According to the Plymouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Brockton police received a call about a man shot inside a home around 2:17 a.m. on Hoover Avenue.

When first responders arrived, they located a man who had been shot in the chest.

“It was around 1 a.m., it was very loud, people were shouting and insulting,” said Madina Dansoko, a neighbor. “They usually yell a lot, so I guess I wasn’t stressed, it’s just normal.”

“It’s very surprising and I woke up at 3 o’clock and saw a few cars there and it was shocking,” said Nina, a neighbor.

The man, identified as Sederick Abreau, 27, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Derrick Cornell lives a few houses away and said he knows his neighbor but not well.

I mean, it’s Brockton,” Cornell said, “Just waving hello and passing by. I don’t really know them like that.

On Sunday, investigators sat outside the home, at one point helping an elderly man in a wheelchair into a car.

Nina said she was surprised to hear that someone had been killed.

My daughter went to high school with some of the kids there,” she said.

The investigation is active and ongoing at this time and, according to the prosecutor, this does not appear to be a random act of violence.
