Adam Sandler is set to receive a major honor, just before the release of his latest Netflix film.
The actor is set to receive the People’s Icon Award at the 2024 People’s Choice Awards on February 18, according to an announcement on Wednesday. Simu Liu will host the annual awards ceremony at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, with the event broadcast live on NBC and E! and streaming on Peacock.
Sandler joins People’s Choice winner Lenny Kravitz, who was previously announced as this year’s Music Icon Award recipient and will perform at the show. Past recipients of the People’s Icon Award include Ryan Reynolds, Halle Berry, Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Aniston and Melissa McCarthy.
“Adam Sandler has been an industry staple for decades and has been entertaining us since his debut. Saturday Night Live over 30 years ago,” said Jen Neal, executive vice president of live events and specials for NBCUniversal Entertainment. “From Billy Madison has Mr. Acts, its unforgettable characters have stood the test of time and marked the public for generations. We are delighted to honor him with this year’s People’s Icon Award.
Sandler, who got his start as a comedian and SNL performer before becoming a movie star, remains as busy as ever.
