1 dead, 5 injured in Bronx subway station shooting

NEW YORK – One person has died after six people were shot during a Metro platform in the Bronx.

It happened around 4:37 p.m. Monday at the Mount Eden metro station on Jerome Avenue.

Police say four men and two women were shot dead on the 4th station platform.

According to firefighters, four of the five people are seriously injured and one is slightly injured.

The injured were transported to area hospitals. All five are expected to survive.

The search for the shooter is on. So far no arrests have been made.

Police are expected to soon share more details about the incident during a news conference at the scene. We will bring this to you live on CBS News New York.

A video from the scene shows numerous police officers and rescue workers at the station.

Trains were still running but bypassed the station in both directions. Northbound trains use the expressway from 149th Street-Grand Concourse to Burnside Avenue.

Authorities urged people to avoid the area, saying they should expect public transportation disruptions, delays and road closures as the investigation continues.
